After seeing many displays paying
tribute to WWII American Veterans during
the 50th anniversary of the "D" Day Landings in
Normandy back in 1994, I decided that Veterans of the Vietnam war should also be
remembered in Europe by way of informative public displays at various military
events in the UK.
I
started my
first
tribute
displays
back in
summer of
1995 and
my early displays
were
limited
to one
mannequin
a few
boards and
my jeep
(you can
find some
photos of
the early
days
further
down on
this
webpage)!
In 2002 I co-created with some
friends: Rolling Thunder, The Vietnam
experience,
a part museum/part Living History
society dedicated to the memories of US soldiers
and their allies during the Vietnam
conflict.
Since that day I hosted my Gia Vuc website
tributes with them, by sharing logistic and resources
this has allowed all of us to put on better displays. As
you will see, my display are no long solely for Gia Vuc
as I have introduced related subjects in the past
like,
the Mike Force, SOG, Ha Thanh,
MAT I-27 and this year the 32nd Naval Construction Regiment, Mobile
Construction Battalion 62, but they kind all relate to the I CORPS.
All my displays are are done my mannequins
and I try to capture a specific moment in a specific
area at a specific time.
The theme is deeply research via books
or by first hand information from Veterans and I try to
use as many authentic items as possible to make
the display as accurate as possible. All my displays
have one or several display boards giving the public
information on that specific display and unit.
My main display is always at Beltring in
the UK in July.
This is an international event for anybody interested in the
military. Enthusiasts visit Beltring from all over
Europe, the
Eastern Block countries, Japan, Australia, Canada and the US,
with more and more Americans visitors attending every year.
You will meet plenty of Veterans of all
nationalities!
This is primarily an Historic Military
Vehicle Show with over 3000 privately owned vehicles ranging
from WWI to the current Gulf War. There are also many military
displays like mine.
If
you are planning a vacation in Europe this July,
come and join us in remembering history and the men who
fought. (We have add several US veteran are Beltring in
the past and they will be glad to tell you about it and
advise you as to the best way to come and visit us)
